Panthers, Final Four, and Welcome To Atlanta
I never would have guessed that I would be writing this post from my hotel in Atlanta, Georgia at the 2013 NCAA Final Four. It took a lot of things to make the trip possible. First and foremost, it took Drury University winning 22 straight games. The Panthers are playing in the NCAA Division II Championship, against Metro State, also taking place in Atlanta this weekend.
I've had the privilege of covering Drury for the past few months for KTTS News. There isn't a more deserving group of guys.
The trip also wouldn't have made it past rambling of a hopeful journalist if Crista Hogan hadn't told me "you only live once" (which I later thanked her for the YOLO reference). She is Executive Director of the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association, where I also happen to be an intern.
When she let out a late night Facebook post about my trip, several board members graciously and selflessly stepped up to help me fund a trip that has little to do directly with the legal profession (though there are many indirect connections I've come to find).
The trip started out a little bumpy, a flight cancelled, lost luggage, and someone else staying in my hotel room.Things seem to be calming down and I am so excited to bring you the best coverage I know how of the Final Four and the Drury Panthers.
